St Luke's United Methodist Church North Chesterfield Va

Monthly Mission Collections

Every month, St. Luke’s seeks to support a variety of missions in tangible ways.  As a congregation, we collect items for worthy causes:  school supplies for Jacobs Road Elementary, macaroni and cheese for the food pantry, turkeys for those in need at Thanksgiving, coats for those at Safe Haven Shelter at Christmas, quarters for Caritas, and many other items, when we learn of a need in our community.

These are our gifts to others, given in the same spirit of generosity through which we have received so much from Jesus Christ.  We are thankful that our preschool often helps in this work, adding items or coins to what the church has collected.  We love being partners in mission with our preschool families, and as a family of faith, we love being in ministry to those in our local communities.

We try to live out our faith, mindful of what Jesus said in Luke 12:48:  “Much will be demanded from everyone who has been given much, and from the one who has been entrusted with much, even more will be asked.”

Matthew 5:14-16 “You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.
